There is a small but growing club in Billings, Montana called Rimrock Plastic Modelers. Named after the rim rock cliff formation on the north side of town. It is a club that specializes in auto modeling but is growing with aircraft, military and other interests. They hold an annual show in September and it has been growing in attendance every year. This year featured just shy of 100 models with attendees from as far away as Bozeman and even South Dakota.
Many models in most categories this year and the judging was exceptionally difficult. The big winner was the 1/25 Peterbuilt triple axle wrecker winning it’s class along with Best Detail, Best Finish, People’s Choice and Best of Show. A growing category is the Space/Science Fiction division. Still judged as one, I bet it will be needing to be split by next year. It is my opinion that Space Fact and Science Fiction should be judged separately. It is like comparing apples and potatoes.
This small show has some of the best models I have seen in quite some time. Every year gets better and next year could see breaking 100 models. Plastic modeling is alive and well in the Big Sky State!!!
Mark- great pictures!!! But doesn’t Montana have enough orange paint??? LOL!!! Seems the bright green was the favorite color this time. I liked the model of my very first car. got it from Fred Flinstone himslef.
Excellent Show, Thanks for sharing Mark. Which are your builds ?
